(Marburg, March 25-29, 2009)
On the occasion of the 30th Deutscher Kunsthistorikertag (Biannual German Art History Convention) in Marburg in spring 2009, a discussion panel on the »Historiography of Art History« took place on March 27th. Its focus was on the development and current situation of the discipline’s historiography. The prospects of research in this field were equally assessed as its limitations. The discussion panel also tackled new trends as it was open for critical reviews.
Ahead of this event, a certain number of colleagues was invited to share their position with the scholarly community by publicizing their statements in Kunstgeschichte. Open Peer Reviewed Journal (see http://www.kunstgeschichte-ejournal.net/TextezurDiskussion/forum-wissenschaftsgeschichte/). By this means, we intend to open up the discussion to larger parts of the scholarly community and prompt many responses. Comments, addenda and replies are very welcome and can be immediately put online in this journal (see Submit Comments).
